I track most of my reading on Goodreads. Generally I don’t put in the middle grade books I read every day with my 3rd grader (sooo much Geronimo Stilton), but just about everything else is in there. I went through the past six months or so of my reading and started to build a visual representation of my favorite historical mysteries on Pinterest. I’d love to know your favorites, and hope you enjoy my reads! I started writing historical mystery in late 2016, and my first Heather Redmond tale will be out this July…
While searching for her true identity, an innocent woman falls into the path of a drug kingpin.
Catch up on my delightful bakery-based Victorian romance series right now. Six of the seven Redcakes stories are on sale, some for as low as $.99. If you want a Christmas read, start with Christmas Delights, but otherwise, the first book is The Marquess of Cake. If you’re a fan of my Grand Russe Hotel series, His Wicked Smile will give you some hints about my hotel characters!

When firefighter Conway Smith enters Cloud Bar in Las Cruces, New Mexico, he has only one thing on his mind—revenge against the aliens who let his mother die, despite having promised her immortality. One look at Resistance fighter Venus Cloud, though, and all he can think about is the magic they will make together back in his hotel room.
Venus has been raised in the Resistance, and she’s tasked with seducing Conway and learning all his secrets. He has something to offer the hardened warriors trying to free Earth from the invaders—a stolen nanocyte serum that will make one human effectively immortal.
The local cell wants Conway in their group, not leading it, and devises a brutal operation to get what they want. If Venus finds herself more in love with Conway than respectful of her ruthless father’s plans, she’ll have to go on the run to save his life.
Sex, lies, and a road trip from hell. Venus may have to turn to her enemy Krinar to save her lover’s life.
P.S. There are seven other fresh new novellas set in the world of the Krinar Chronicles! And to see where it all began, read Close Liaisons, currently free! https://www.amazon.com/Close-Liaisons-Krinar-Chronicles-1-ebook/dp/B009MNXWMO
5 stars: “LADY BE GOOD is not only a beautiful romance, but a terrific spy story as well, and both of them seamlessly woven into a fabulous book.”–Monique Daost, Goodreads/Amazon reviewer
4 stars: “A historical romantic suspense with incredible characters who carry more than guns – they carry secrets they will do anything to keep under wraps. The storyline is rich in historical details, but the detail does not distract from the overall plot. Olga and Douglas care for one another, but as they are both “royals” they have to maintain decorum. Heather Hiestand is a talented author who brings to life what could have happened to the royal family of Russia during the revolution.”–RT Book Reviews
B rating: “What I liked about this story is the relationship between Olga and Glass and the depiction of this somewhat gray and dreary world.”–Jayne, DearAuthor

As she stands before the gilded doors of The Grand Russe Hotel, Alecia Loudon is poised on the threshold of a profound awakening. It is the Roaring Twenties, and London is buzzing with opportunities for adventure . . . and indiscretion. The young personal secretary knows nothing of the ways of men, but a chance meeting with the hotel’s handsome night watchman sets her imagination afire.
Ivan Salter has noticed the quiet Englishwoman and wonders what delicate beauty might be lurking behind Alecia’s plain clothes. As the handsome Russian draws Alecia further into the hotel’s luxurious world, he introduces her to fine food, cool jazz, and forbidden assignations. Their dalliance is tested, however, by a surprising link between Ivan’s family history and Alecia’s bosses. Tangled up in international intrigue, the lovers must decide if their sparkling new romance is worth the cost . . .

When exiled royalty and espionage combine, expect a romance as bold as the 1920s . . .
Olga Novikov is a princess without a throne. Her fiancé and her family slain in the revolution, she flees Russia and finds herself working as the head of housekeeping at London’s luxurious Grand Russe Hotel. It’s a far cry from the glamour of her former life, but she’s grateful for the job—until a guest forces her to question where her loyalty lies. The charming nobleman challenges her at every turn—and arouses dreams of romance she thought she’d abandoned forever . . .
Douglas “Glass” Childers is living a double life. On the surface, he’s the indolent Viscount Walling, but in truth he’s an intelligence agent searching for a Bolshevik weapons master. The coolly beautiful and headstrong housekeeper is a distraction he doesn’t need—unless she’s the key piece in the puzzle he must solve. Trusting her could be dangerous—but loving her is an undeniable temptation . . .
